Samsung Galaxy J7 2017 which has been in the rumors mills for the last couple of months is yet to be officially launched in the market. Now, the same device is launched by Verizon as the Galaxy J7 V in the U.S along with the another budget smartphone LG K20 V. Compared to LG K20 V, the Samsung Galaxy J7 V is priced slightly higher at $240 and packs better specifications on paper. It sports the same design as the Galaxy J3 2017 that was launched in the U.S as Galaxy J3 Emerge. The Galaxy J7 V sports a polycarbonate shell with removable back cover.
It comes with a 5.5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display and is powered by the Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at 2.2Ghz. This is the same processor that is also used for Moto Z Play & Moto G5 Plus smartphones. The Galaxy J7 V includes 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Though the available storage will be even lesser, there is a MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage up to 256GB. Just below the display, we can find two capacitive buttons placed on either side of the physical home button.
Though there is no information about the presence of fingerprint sensor, we expect it to come integrated with the home button. In the camera department, there is an 8MP sensor on the rear with LED flash and a 5MP sensor on the front for selfies and video calls. It is backed by a 3,300mAh battery that is mentioned to give 40 hours of talk time and lasts up to 12 days in the standby mode. With the Power Save Mode, the device can last even longer by decreasing the screen brightness and minimizing the background app usage.
The Galaxy J7 V runs on the TouchWiz UI based on the latest Android 7.0.1 Nougat out of the box. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3.5mm Audio port, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. The power button is placed on the right edge, whereas the volume rocker can be found on the left edge. The speaker is also placed on the right edge of the device, sitting just above the power button. Unlike LG K20 V, Verizon is not offering any gifts while purchasing the Galaxy J7 V.
