ANDROID 5.1 UPDATE FOR 1ST AND 2ND GEN MOTO X AND PURE EDITION ON THE WAY
Motorola posted the ‘Release Notes’ of Android 5.1 Lollipop updates for Moto X, Moto X (2nd Gen)and Moto X Pure Edition (carrier unlocked version of 2nd Gen Moto X). Android 5.0 Lollipop is already released for Moto X (2nd Gen), but 1st Gen devices are still running on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat. The company accuses the Snapdragon S4 Pro SoC of not supporting the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. It will directly upgraded to Android 5.1 Lollipop along with the Moto X (2nd Gen) which is running on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The update includes Material Design, lock screen notifications, better Multi-tasking, Flashlight in quick settings, battery saver app and many more new features. It also has multi-user support with a guest mode and smart lock which unlocks with trusted devices like Android Wear smart watch or a Bluetooth in the car. With Android 5.1 update, if you lost your device it will not unlock unless it sign-in with the Google account password, even factory reset will not unlock the device.
Motorola constantly rolls-out OS updates and even faster than any other company, the first device to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop update is the Moto G despite the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 came with Lollipop out of the box. To update the devices, go to ‘Settings’ and then click on ‘About phone’ check for the Android 5.1 Lollipop update with ‘System updates’. While updating the device, it must have more than 50% of charging and connection with a proper Wi-Fi.
