GIONEE MARATHON M3 LOLLIPOP UPDATE ROLLING OUT
Update: Gionee has announced lollipop update for Marathon M3 smartphone. The smartphone currently runs Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.The only issue with Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Marathon M3 though is, the update is not rolling out as OTA (over the air) update. The update is only available at all Gionee Authorised Service Centers in India, with zero installation charges.

Gionee Marathon M3 announced has been announced by Gionee for Rs. 12999. Earlier it was listed on Ebay for $179 and it comes with a whooping 5000mAh battery.

Gionee has listed a new device on its official webpage, Gionee Marathon M3 [via PhoneRadar]. Couple of months ago Gionee had announced the new phablet in India, which goes by name Gpad G5 as it is the successor to the company’s previous phablet, GPAD G4 that was launched in February this year. The device is priced at INR 14,999 and the Chinese manufacturer says that it will be available in country by next week via both online as well as offline retailers. Gionee’s ELife S5.1 is going to be released in November this year in India. Gionee Elife S5.1 was world’s thinnest device until Oppo announced their Oppo R5 which is 4.85mm thin and therefore thinner than Gionee Elife S5.1.
Gionee Marathon M3 has a 5-inch IPS display with 1280*720 pixels resolution. The phone comes with 1GB of DDR3 RAM and 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded MicroSD card up to 128GB. Marathon M3 is powered by a MediaTek’s quad-core Cortex-A7 processor clocked at 1.3GHz which comes with Mali 450 GPU as the dedicated graphics card .The phone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.
On the camera front Marathon M3 has an 8-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front facing caemera. The device comes with various connectivity options such as 3G HSPA+ Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity.
Gionee has included many features in the camera app of Marathon such as “Eraser” and “Face Detection” while the UI itself comes with features like “Face Unlock”, “Smart Gesture”, “Game Zone”, etc. This phone is 10.4mm thick and it weighs 180.29 grams. At the back the phone is a huge 5000mAh battery. Gionee claims, the phone’s battery offers 33.7 hours of talk time and 3.8 days on standby.
Gionee Marathon M3 is now available for purchase on Ebay for a price $179(Rs. 12,999). It is available in Black or White colour. At this price point and features, the smartphone would compete with Moto G 2nd generation, Micromax Canvas Nitro and LG F60 LTE.
