ONEPLUS TO LAUNCH HYDROGEN OS FOR CHINESE ONEPLUS ONE OWNERS ON MAY 28TH

OnePlus launched its first ever smartphone ‘OnePlus One’ in April, 2014. It came with Cyanogen OS pre-installed and flagships specs with a price tag of $298. Even though it released with Cyanogen OS in the international markets, OnePlus released the OnePlus One with Oppo’s Color OS in China.

Cyanogen moved apart from OnePlus in India since it had an exclusive deal with Indian smartphone maker Micromax. After that OnePlus announced they would be releasing a new OS for OnePlus One in India, though the international market will be getting official updates from Cyanogen. OnePlus announced the name of their new OS as ‘Oxygen OS’. They postponed the release of new OS few time and finally released it in April, 2015.

Oxygen OS doesn’t have many customization what Cyanogen provided but may improve in the coming days. Now for Chinese users of OnePlus, the company is going t release a new OS named ‘Hydrogen OS’. It will be announced on 28 May in the China capital Beijing. It will come without many tweaks to the Vanilla Android but focus more battery life and performance of the device.

It will be based on Android 5.0 Lollipop, and there is no other information about the OS. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau said, “Hydrogen OS won’t be another iOS lookalike, we don’t take iOS as a benchmark, Android Lollipop has its own attraction with its Material design. The Hydrogen will have different colours and added animations.”

Google I/O 2015 will also be held on the same date that OnePlus will announce Hydrogen OS. Google may unveil its new OS ‘Android M’ along with many other things scheduled for the event.
